HONG'S TAEKWONDO AUSTRALIA
Natalia Ecarma Sangalang (Team Manager & Instructor)
I have been training in Taekwondo over the last 20 years. I am a 2nd Dan Black Belt and a Certified Coach and Tournament Referee through NCAS and NOAS.
Taekwondo has been part of my life for many years and I still love doing it for my fitness and as a means to unwind from my daily work as a Corporate Banker. I competed and won in local, regional and national tournaments in my early years. I had been a National Team player representing the Philippines in the welter weight division from 1990 to 1994. During this time, I was also a member of the Philippine National Demonstration Team and the elite Blackbelt Club of the Philippine Taekwondo Association. After retiring from competition, I became an instructor for my old club and coached young kids to many tournaments. I was also a referee in national championships. Other highlights in Taekwondo include organising the awarding of medals, the opening and closing ceremonies for 3 international competitions namely the: 16th Southeast Asian Games in 1991, 11th Asian Taekwondo Championships in 1994 and 12th World Taekwondo Championships in 1995.
Most recently, I have been appointed State Newsletter Coordinator by Taekwondo Australia NSW Inc to disseminate information and help promote the sport of Taekwondo.
Taekwondo has given me invaluable experiences, friendships and skills that I uphold and treasure. As the Club Team Manager and Coach, my aim is to contribute to the development and promotion of Hong’s Taekwondo Australia, to assist students in achieving their goals and to share my knowledge and experiences.
